the mouth IS upturned, so they probably are fliers. That's ok as I have
looked for fliers before. I'll see how they do.
Both the juvenile crappies and the fliers are eating already

Geoff,
You may have a young flier, Centrarchus macropterus. An upturned mouth is
diagnotic. There's a photo at:

This species reminds me of the crappies, but is much easier to keep.
