I have caught them by scooping up tons of black mud in the eddys of small
streams. The stinky mud. They writhe out and are like a stiff night crawler.
I kept one a long time ago in a pond I had made, but I think something ate
it. It was not in there in the fall. No mud on the bottom for it to hide in.
I have tried since to catch them there with no luck.
