I have raised, smallmouth bass, bluegills and other sunfish on Purina Trout
Chow exclusively. They will eat it IF and only IF you crack the hard exterior
with a hammer or mortar and pestle before feeding. It isn't the size or the
content that they reject, but the hard exterior. Later when they are more
used to it they will reluctantly take a whole pellet. I have a 13 inch
bluegill at present that I raised on 99% trout pellets.
