Jay,
If you don't mind a non-native, try using dwarf bristlenose plecos. This
spring after I came down with arthritis and couldn't hardly take care of
myself let alone the fish, the 300 in my livingroom was overrun with algae.
The tank gets a lot of morning light from the East.It had a thick mat on all
sides. Leo Long stopped down to see me and suggested throwing a couple of
bristlenose in and it wasn't two weeks and they had eaten 90% of it. A lot
easier than cleaning it myself.
